Space Lead - Facilities & Operations Manager

About the Role

We are The People's Bathhouse. Our mission is making sauna and cold water immersion accessible to as many people as possible.

The Space Lead makes sure that mission has a building worth walking into. You keep our saunas, cold plunge, and facility at peak performance — living out Kaizen (continuous improvement) and Wabi Sabi (finding beauty in imperfection) by holding a high standard while solving problems creatively when things wear, break, or don't go to plan.

How We Work

We are not a company of meetings, boardrooms, and layers of paperwork. We removed the middle layers on purpose, and we trust high-agency people to run this better than any org chart could.

This is the most autonomous role in the building. Most of the time you're making the call yourself, without checking first. When a vendor says the part is four weeks out, when the chiller starts making a noise on a Friday afternoon, when something fails an hour before opening — you decide what happens next.

That freedom is a gift and a responsibility. It only functions if the person holding it can think clearly, act, and hold their ground on their own.

The System You Own

The building. Physical space, equipment, cleaning protocols, inventory, facility compliance (temperatures, pool chemistry), maintenance, and logistics and space setup.

Three things are expected of anyone handed a system here:

  1. Run it. Reliably, to standard, without supervision.
  2. Improve it. Leave it better than you found it. When you spot a way to stop a problem happening again, you build it in.
  3. Own it. When it fails, you don't point at the system. You fix it and make sure it doesn't fail the same way twice.
